Kids' Space

“I knew some of the volunteers on a surface level, but working with them allowed me to get to know them better, and they got to know me better, overall strengthening our community.” - Ethan
Overview: Ethan knew his congregation was hosting a large community band concert that would draw a crowd. He also knew that younger children were not going to be content at that event for long. He organized a festival style space for children and families to play that overlapped the community event.

In Reflection: This project provided some new experiences for Ethan who explained, "Before this, I had never truly led adults before, so being able to in this way was an amazing experience, and gave me the confidence that I can lead other adults. It also gave me an appreciation for those who organize and run events like this, since it can be so much work."

More Details: With over 200 people expected at the feature event and many of the Church's volunteers already committed, Ethan had to work hard to make sure he had everything needed for this special space. This included activities like face painting, corn hole, duck ring toss, inflatable football and a bounce house. All of the activities (excluding face painting and bounce house) had ticket prizes, which they entered in raffles. The raffles included three raffle baskets with squish mellows, water guns, candy, soda, and more. Ethan's role was primarily volunteer recruitment and management as he tasked each person with setting up and breaking down their assigned activity.
