“Overall, I have felt empowered by this event because it showed me that with the right team of people, goals can be exceeded.” - Gracie
Overview: Gracie planned a fundraiser to support the Children and Youth Ministry of her local congregation. The goal was to raise enough for basic craft supplies and to support some special events and trips in the future. By incorporating a Girl Scout group that meets in the church, Gracie expanded her volunteer pool and expanded the church's relationship with the scout leaders.

In Reflection: This project helped Gracie learn learn some important lessons in leadership. She explains, "I learned about running a team of people and being exposed to the planning, time, and organization it takes to host an event. In the future, I will take the lessons I learnt from this project and incorporate them into anything involving working and coordinating with others in order to reach a collective goal."

More Details: Gracie's goals for volunteers and income were exceeded. More importantly, the congregation is excited about the idea of doing this again in the future. Gracie was grateful to see positive energy and excitement in while facing the challenge of raising money. The event also provided a wonderful opportunity for the church family to connect and spend time together. The addition of the Girl Scout group added another layer to the volunteer force and community. Another last minute addition to the program was the announcement of a birthday party. One of the people attending was celebrating their birthday, so a special table was reserved and balloons added. Gracie was thankful for all the support and grace as she learned the challenges of purchasing, requesting donations, organizing schedules, and meeting multiple expectations. The church is looking forward to next year's pancake breakfast.
