Creative Connection

“ I discovered how much I'm capable of when I commit to an idea I'm passionate about. It took a lot of work and commitment but when I think about how the project started as just an idea in my head, it really puts into perspective how much I was able to accomplish.” - Nolan
Overview: Nolan took his love of graphic arts and community service and brought them together. He created three art projects which were completed by an intergenerational group at church, then presented to local nonprofits that the church has a relationship with. The art also became digital images to be used on the church's website.

In Reflection: Nolan explained that the project gave member of the church an opportunity to get together to create something meaningful and have fun at the same time. Currently, our church is going through major construction and transition so getting together for big events is kind of awkward. This project acted as a nice break in that transition.

More Details: All three organizations featured in the project had a long term relationship with University Christian Church. Nolan's designs included their logo along with the church's logo under a sing word in large block letters. Nolan designed some basic backgrounds then allowed the volunteers to add their own creative flair. Presentations to the three nonprofits deepened those historic relationships and reminded the congregation of the good works they have been supporting. Those relationships now have a visible expression through the banners hanging in each location. The relationships across generations in the church also have new energy as working on a shared project has created new bonds within the church family.
